Boy were the nerves flying in the gym today around 1:00. It was the school spelling bee and it was exciting! All of the kids did awesome! I was very proud of them all. I know that it can be very scary to get up in front of people, but to get up and spell in front of them takes a lot of courage! It will be even more fun to see my kids spelling again next year as sixth graders. Good Job!

I have been meaning to talk to you about our latest technology piece in Room 7. It is the character traits wiki. Mrs. Betts and I created a wiki for the sole purpose of creating a positive place for kids to communicate with one another. After watching the morning minute, students then post a comment/discussion point on their wall. Then other kids from our class or Mrs. Betts third grade class can comment and offer advise to them. One of the most exciting things is that we invited Rusty the counselor to join our wiki and he accepted. He has given advise and words of encouragement to a lot of our kids. It is so inspiring. All comments come in the form of an email to myself and Mrs. Betts. We are able to keep a close eye on the type of comments written to other people. If we see a negative statement we delete it right away. I also delete comments that have a lot of basic words spelled incorrectly or just basic conversation such as hi, how are ya. That is not what this site is all about. You too can access this wiki through my blog. The link is right under the morning minute link. You will need your child's log in and password to enter the site. It is totally private to the outside world except for those invited. Once you get in, you can navigate through the two classes and write your own words of wisdom, compliments, or advise. Just remember that it can only be POSITIVE statements. Or...just check out what others are saying to your child in order to improve and strengthen their character traits. I am blown away at how inspiring everyone involved has been. Even Mr. Senitte is involved! Fun!

As you probably know, I will be gone tomorrow. I have my technology training! Yippee! You know I am loving that. I hope that you have all marked the School carnival date on your calendar. It is this Friday from 6:00-7:30. Fifth grade has a special booth planned, dealing with technology of course! :0)

Have a wonderful day tomorrow and encourage kids to make positive choices every day!
