Honor Choir Girls...Rocked the House/Gym!

Greetings! Today rocked...literally. We continued on our path through the Earth's layers. We talked a little about how coal goes through a four step process and how one student's father hauls coal. Cool connection! We also talked about how rock can bend, break, shift, and even explode volcano style. We had to cut out lesson short due to the Girls Heights Honor Choir perfomance, which rocked! I loved the Montana song! I had never heard that song before and would love for the three girls in my class to make me a copy of them singing it! Hint, Hint!!!!!

I have to make a confession...I have dropped the ball on our January Volunteer Opportunity of the month. I totally got wrapped up in report cards, grades, and comments that the month just slipped by and here it is almost February already. I am going to try to do two in February to make up for it. Watch for details soon.

Valentine's day is soon approaching. We will be celebrating on Friday, February the 13th. I will be sending home a list of classmate's names in order to fill out valentines. If a student chooses to participate they must have a card for each student in the class. I do allow them to have other valentines for friends that are not in our class. They will have an opportunity to pass those out as well. I will be forming committees next week. There will be decoration, treats, and entertainment committees. Students will be able to sign up for their choice. It is important that you discuss your preference before next week so they know what is allowed by you to do. For example, if they choose treats they will need to bring in the treats, which probably means you, as the parent, will be baking. :0) It is always helpful to have an adult help with the committees. In the past they have just held a quick meeting and made sure all bases were covered and that tasks were divided fairly. Let me know if you can spare twenty minutes next week to meet with one of them. Thanks!

Have a good one!
