Good day...Bad day??

Technology class was amazing! We went into the program, Inspiration, in depth. I have had the kids use this program before, but wow are we going to start to use it a lot more. Pretty powerful. Speaking of powerful...have you checked out the writing your child created on Slavery hanging in the hallway? Wow! They had to select one of four choices and create a piece of writing that would prove to me their knowledge on the subject of slavery. The choices were: write a letter home, write a persuasive speech to get other slaves to rebel with them, a poem, or a plan of escape. I was so impressed at all the creative ways they came up with to show what they had learned. Then, they had a part two to the project. We learned about the three dilemmas the enslaved Africans faced: capture, Middle Passage (the boat ride), and a new life in America. With that knowledge, they had to create an illustration for each dilemma. The illustration had to show colors that represented their feelings, words that described how they felt about the dilemma, and pictures that came to their mind when thinking about each step of the journey. Amazing! If you haven't checked them out please do soon.

I went back to school on my way home and caught up with the sub. He mentioned it wasn't the best day but wasn't all bad either. He stated that for the most part everyone was showing true character. Some however decided to make some not so good choices. That is very unfortunate. Like I always say, all choices have consequences good or bad. All will be sorted out tomorrow. I also understand that a cellphone might be missing. If you happen to see an "extra" at home please return it to me so I can give it back to the owner. Just a reminder that cellphones are not to be brought to school. If students do choose to bring them they are bringing them at their own risk. They are also instructed to leave them in their backpacks, turned off, while on school grounds. This is unfortunate and I feel sorry for the person that is missing it. I hope that it turns up soon.

Just a reminder that report cards go home tomorrow. I only need the envelope back. The rest can stay at home. Please have students bring back on Tuesday when we return to school.

Also, please remind students to bring back Little Ceaser Reading calendars tomorrow to log minutes into the computer for the contest.

Thanks and have a great evening! Tomorrow is "Friday!"
