Homework and Need Your Helps!

Students in my language class have their unit test tomorrow. When going over the review today I noticed that students were still having a lot of trouble with possessive nouns. Every student was told to take home their language book, re-read those pages, and try a few problems with you. I also noticed students having some trouble with plural nouns and spelling them correctly by following the rules. The review pages start on page 150 and the lesson pages are listed next to each section. I hope they take the time to get all information stored as a solid foundation for the test tomorrow.

Students were also assigned to read chapter 2 in their Bernie book. This is the first time that students have been assigned to read on their own. There will be a quiz tomorrow, a pop quiz that is. Students were also encouraged to get on the Bernie blog and begin any assignment they can without further directions. I did not go over any of the assignments in detail. I suggested the one where they add to their character list. Reading it aloud again might also help in their comprehension of the chapter.

When we went to the Nursing Home before Winter Break, a connection was made between a student and a special resident. His name is John. He is blind. He is moving out of the full time care and into the assisted living part of the building. This is great. However, he has none of the basics to move into his new room. He needs a dresser, lamps with bright light, kitchen utensils, plates, and household goods. If you have any extras of these could you either donate them to him at Eagle Cliffs Manor or have students bring them into class and I will take them over. This is an amazing way to reach out to others. John is a very special man and he needs our support. Thanks!

Lastly, I have noticed a lot of absences and tardies lately. I can not stress the importance of being here every day and on time. It is very hard for students to catch up in this class, especially in math. I do not teach in the old out of the book way all the time. A lot of activities in here are hands on and can not be caught up. If students are really sick that is one thing, but if they are able to come to school I really, really need them here every single day. I appreciate your support on this. Thanks.

Lastly, Lastly...write the code 5TEE on your child's planner by your signature for an extra bonus when they check in with me tomorrow. This also assures me which student's parents are utilizing this resource. :0)

Have a great night!
