We have been learning about simple machines in science class. Students need to begin to create their simple machine "mousetrap" game. They will need to include at lease one pulley, one ramp, one lever, one wheel and axle, and one screw. The game must end by catching the leprechaun at the end. We have done may experiments and I have shown students examples of the "mousetrap" game off the internet. Students may not use any form of a complex machine, such as a motor. It all has to be chain events caused by simple machines. Projects are due Friday, no exceptions. If students are not going to be here on Friday, they will need to bring it in to share before then. They may not work in partners, but are encouraged strongly to ask relatives for help and ideas. Many kids started on this over the weekend and realized that it was easy to find/build the machines at home. We talked about all the different supplies they could find and use at home or check out from school. Lastly, their board games need to be of a St. Patrick's Day theme. Part of their grade will be based on the creativity of their theme. We talked about the color green, lucky charms cereal, rainbows, pots of gold... The list is endless! Have fun with this!
We test for the last time tomorrow. We will have two sessions of math and then MontCas is done. Thanks for making it successful all the way around. Students are encouraged to wear as much green as possible tomorrow, but remember school rules does not allow hair to be colored on this day. Creativity...got to love it!
