Ever Wonder What is Inside Owl Puke?

Well, the kids in room 7 got to find out today. We have been working hard on the scientific skill of classifying items and took it one step further today. Thanks to Ethan's grandparents donation of owl pellets we were able to pair up and dig into them. As you can see from the video below students were able to find skulls, hip bones, legs, teeth, vertebrate, and tons of hair from mice, moles, shrews, and birds. One group even found a feather. Another actually found an entire skull in tact. Wow! It was really neat to see the skill of classifying come alive in an activity that was actually gross enough to excite kids. The grosser the better they say! 

Spring Fundraiser packets went home today. I have challenged the kids to sell as much as they can by putting a $100.00 reward for each item sold. Awhile back I mentioned that I attended the PTA meeting to present Rusty. While there I was able to sample the BLT Dip Mix and OMG (Oh My Goodness) it was FANTASTIC. If you by nothing else, by that. Yum! We were also able to sample the smells of the candles. Vanilla Cream and Hot Cinnamon Rolls were my favs! Kids can also earn little prizes as they sell, starting at a prize for just two items sold. That is quite the incentive. PTA does so much for us it would be great to support this fundraiser and have even more money for them to spend on us next year!! Remember, NO DOOR TO DOOR SALES! Safety first! Order forms are due back on April 15th. Thanks for your support! 

Don't forget the volunteer opportunity this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. We will meet at the living snow fence about a mile past Zimmerman Trail on Airport Road/Highway off to the left. You will see us from the Highway. Don't forget to dress warm and wear good shoes. Bring gloves if you have them. I have quite a few release forms. Do I have your childs??? Parents are welcome to stay and help. If just dropping child off, please make sure to pick them up promptly at 10:45!! I cannot stay with kids after 11:00. I have other commitments. Thanks.
