Monday, Monday!

What a great start to the week! There was delicious cookies in the teacher's lounge, kids were excited to be back in class, and the weather was just right! Oh, and we also learned many new fun things as well...such as how to get your daily exercise workout while doing math class!!! Ask your kids about their shout outs for today's geometric ideas lesson.

Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Davis, (man what would I do without you two?), we were able to get all the Valentine's Day committees squared away. All kids have a part in the event. They should have written what they need to bring in their planners. All supplies need to be brought in this Friday! Oh my, a Valentine's Day party on Friday the 13th...what was I thinking!!!! I sent home the student name list today as well. Kids need to start to fill out their valentine cards for classmates. If students need valentine day cards I have extras in the classroom that they are welcome to use. Thank you Grandma Woods!

It was pointed out that I forgot to post an explorer trivia on Friday. Therefore, I will post two today. Both are worth $20.00 each. 1. Who was the Spanish explorer that discovered and named the Pacific Ocean in 1513? 2. What is the name of the US city that was discovered in 1718 by the French Explorer Jean Baptisite Le Moyne Bienville? Google it up!!!

Lastly, there has been some reported gang activity on the bike path. The gang symbols/graffiti is for the gang Vipers. I asked Lt. House, Jordan's father, about this but he was unsure of this particular gang. It may be just a group of kids that want to be in a gang. In any case, I have reminded kids that they should NEVER walk home alone, have their cell phones out and ready for use while walking, and to go straight home from school and check in with you. We also talked about ALWAYS telling an adult about strange activity/graffiti with an adult right away. Mr. Senitte is also looking into the situation. His main question is where exactly is the graffiti. He will then make the call to have it removed by the city. Our number one priority at Bitterroot is to make sure your child is safe at all times while on campus. Unfortunately, we can not patrol the bike path. It is imperative that you have a safety conversation with your child/ren often. We will do all we can to solve any safety issue students bring to our attention as quickly as possible however. If we all communicate, we win!

I would like to leave this blog post with a poem written by my student Austin...

You're a warrior and warriors never die
So you will never leave my eye
I will throw my dart
And you will never perish from my heart
I promise with all my heart
I will not miss with that dart.

Peace Out!
