We are FAMOUS!

Hello. What a great Tuesday from the very beginning to the very end. It all started when our class was given a shout out by Rusty on the morning minute. You need to listen to it on schooltools.tv. Just click the link on this blog. SWEET! I totally love this guy because at least once a month he talks about believing in yourself, but now, WOW, I really love him. Too cool! It seemed to go a lot smoother today. The kids and myself are both back into the routine of school, rules, and expectations. We were able to get a lot accomplished. Students have  couple of extras this week from their specialists as well. Please keep on top of kids for these projects. They have to read a book on an African American for library. I heard her say, more than once, upon pick up today..."Make sure you have checked out your person book and that you read it from cover to cover." Also, students have a health test this Friday. They are allowed to use their notes and study guide, that they will get tomorrow, but the object is to learn it and commit it to memory, not just pass a test. So, could you make a time before Friday to go over the information on the study guide and have some meaningful discussions that they can relate too. New book order forms went home yesterday. They are due back Friday. They are focussed around history, which many of the kids love! They can earn fake money, $25.oo per book ordered. Students will need $3000.00 fake dollars to attend the surprise field trip at the end of the year. After winter break, I always crack down on the money I give out. I will not take a child on a special field trip outside of Billings if they can not behave in the classroom. If they don't have the fake money to go, it must be because their choices have led to too many negative consequences. Money will also have to be used to buy into the Valentines Party in February. Everybody started over with their money after the break, so some are already broke. Not a good start. Please remind students that I have high expectations, as do you, for them to succeed in this class, and to allow others to succeed as well. Shouting out is particularly hard to control with this group. Others will have no problem earning more than enough money to go by making positive choices. It is TOTALLY up to them alone! Lastly, I have created a new blog for my reading class. Students have been posting comments to certain assignments for others to see and read. This is a student only blog. Please do not comment as a parent, but it is fun to get on and see what your child has to say/do. Enjoy it at bernie-erickson.blogspot.com. Students may also access it from home and comment if they need to for homework. Very cool to see them interact electronically with one another. They are also so amazed when their very own "stuff" is published onto the blog. Have a good one! Don't forget to watch morning minute! :0)
